Introduction: The focus of FIND a Future web site was developed to increase the level of awareness of parents, families, school personnel, and services providers of the services and supports available to students transitioning from school to the world of work/adult programs and to increase participation in appropriate programs. A virtual web-based exhibition of providers was developed to be utilized by consumers, families, and professionals (together and separately) to search or "walk through" the web site and learn about the resources that exist in the community and how to access them.

The initial FIND a Future website (currently a part of the Council on Mental Retardation website) became operational in March of 2002. It is still growing in numbers of poviders and registered consumers and thanks to important feedback from our visitors, is being updated with enhancements regularly.

Project staff included Xpressions Interactive, Council on Mental Retardation, Career Visions Inc. and survey input from 26 different agencies within the Jefferson County region. Project staff agreed to utilize the disability categories as defined by the US Department of Education for parent resource centers.

Funding for Find A Future web site was provided by Metro United Way and FIND of Louisville (US Department of Education grant).
